Trend #1)  ”High Def”:  Lots of new face makeup products (when they are not utilizing the term “mineral”) are rocking the ‘High Definition’ marketing. What makes it High Def? Sephora’s website describes it:

“Originally designed for use in film and television, high-definition makeup provides a flawless, picture-perfect complexion and is invisible to the 6x magnification of high-def cameras (and the naked eye!)”

Your diligent NotSoSoccerMom is trying the ’High Def’ foundations and does seem to see results.  I have tried Eve Pearl’s High Def creme, Makeup Forever’s High Def foundation, Dior Capture High Def Serum Foundation (oooh, aaah “serum”) and actually do think I see results as far as how it sits on the skin.  It is much kinder to my pores. I will continue to report on this as events unfold.

 Eve Pearl's High Definition Creme.
I purchased it cuz I saw her on FoxNews and I thought I'd look just
like the FoxNews anchorbabes...  www.EvePearl.com

Trend #2)   The Magical Crazy Oscillating Scintillating Mascaras~  A mascara in which the wand is mechanized and wiggles for you, thus dispensing more product for a thicker, fuller effect. Who was the first to this party? I would guess Prescriptives because I DO remember them doing a whole show on QVC way back around Christmas and saying that they’d have this amazing new mascara first and it would not even ship till Feb.  OF COURSE I wanted it so much more when they said that we special QVC-ers would be the first to get it and it wasn’t even in yet! GASP.  That Lisa- can she sell or what?? I don’t even freak for mascaras and I wanted to be a part.  Alas, I held myself down and decided to wait.    It and many other of it’s kind are now in stores: Lancome,  Lauder, etc etc.  While I will gladly line up to pay $80 for a foundation, I have a brainfart with expensive mascaras. YES, I have tried Lancome’s Definicils, Fiberwig’s, DiorShow— Say a fancy high end one:  I’ve tried it. Yeah, they are fine but  are they any better than LashBlast by CoverGirl? Lash Stilletto by Maybelline?  L’Oreal’s Voluminous?  Probably not.  BUT~ (I was going somewhere with this:) Maybelline is the first to the mechanical mascara party in the mass market. So I got it today. Again, your intrepid reporter is following the story closely and WILL report!

SIDEBAR: I tried it. See story and review of Maybelline's
Give-Me-An-ADD-Attack mascara at top left in the TOP FIVE section.

Trend #3) Latisse~The first lash-growth product available by prescription. I have used it for 2 weeks now. I feel my eyelashes are a touch darker and maybe longer… really. I have literally NO eyelashes so I’m a pretty great candidate for this. I will use the entire sample before passing judgement.

Trend #4) Skincare in Makeup’s clothes~Clinique’s new foundation Even Better SPF 15  promises to even out skintone and visually diminish age spots.  PerfeKt’s new concealer says it conceals flaws and dark circles while also getting rid of puffiness (cucumber extract).  Guerlain has several bronzers that also have self-tanning properties to them.  This is genious. Multi-tasking. Surely a woman thought of it. No offense to men regarding multi-tasking… but I’d like to see any of you feed a baby, defrost scallops, write out a lunch money check and update your Facebook status while texting your sister gossip about your mom….

Trend #5)  Face Sculpting— playing up shadow and light. Makeup artists have done this for years of course but just recently have we been charged to figure out where to shade and wear to highlight.   Makeup Forever, L’Oreal, Laura Gellar and many many other brands are selling contouring and highlighting powders and cremes. While they can be tricky to learn, they can make a huge difference once mastered.   It Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Palette

The ”My Sculpted Face” kit on HSN.com seems the most straighforward.  Hmmm, I think I need to order it right now to REALLY be a service to you?  right?

Finally, Trend #6)    Devices.  Someday in the future we will all ride around in Jetson’s cars in the sky and they will dispense Botox syringes in space-age vending machines…   Until then, we will have to try and drink more water, wear SPF, moisturize and hope that Garnier’s big red  roller-ball wrinkle wand is working?  At home lasers and anti-acne devices are starting to take off.   Being an infomercial junkie, I started small with the Dermawand. (see www.dermawand.com)   I did like it. Unfortunately, my precious little Dermawand met it’s demise when I dropped it on the bathroom floor.

I also have already purchased the Clarisonic extraordinarily expenisve mechanized face-cleanser machine.        This one went back to Sephora.  My pores weren’t didn’t see $200 worth of results.

Recently, I owned (for about a week) the Evis MD red light therapy at-home laser.  Then a doctor explained to me I had purchased an ‘expensive toy’ so I took it back.

I still have hope. I will always hold out hope that the latest and greatest is soooo fabulous and worth it and is right around the corner… literally… on a UPS truck in a box on the way to my house.

I know where all your money goes! BTW, I just bought some mineral powder from Mary Kay. That’s one that you didn’t review!

Mary Kay’s is GREAT. I have it right here next to me, literally. Let me know how it works! :)

I am with you on the mascara. I like cover girl lash blast better than any mascara I have used. They even have tinted versions now. Way cool. Keep me posted on the foundation. I just added a chanel radiance product to my foundation…. the results are good.

:-) Does Jerry just roll his eyes when he sees your latest purchase? In a similar fashion I buy lots of computer related stuff.

Does the ending to Bambi + mascara mean you are not going to use the button? Try it again–just for fun commentary on your blog. You know how to wiggle the wand w/o the button better than the pros, I bet, so see if that button will help the rest of us! (please)

Is the latisse thing a pill you take or is it something topical you rub on your lashes or just mascara that does something special?

Robert, your question seems to imply you think Jer has time or energy to keep track of JBH’s cosmetic purchases? I’m guessin’ not. Seriously, the kid works & clearly works out, so Jill is free to move about the mall & QVC : )

Thank you readers! for reading but mostly for accessing your Inner Glamma Gal (or Guy)~ cuz I feel Robert is glamorous in his own cool-guy way. So is Jerry… Wait till I tell you about doing an Aspirin Mask on Jerry last night. That is what we call ‘foreshadowing’ or ‘teasing’ in the big, bad world of blogs.

Anywho, Latisse is a topical solution. You put some on a little disposable wand and paint in on your lashes each night.

Re: Jerry and the purchases: Most of it I take back. *Here comes my mom with the lecture* so it’s really not as gluttonous as it seems. Also, I dont’ get pedicures, manicures, wear 9$ shirts and own 8 pairs of shoes. My purse is a diaper bag :)

Finally, I re-tried the “Bambi” Mascara today, to be fair. UH= NO. Really.

Once you start Latisse, do you have to do it forever since lashes fall out all the time and you are always making new ones? Or does your body eventually learn to make good lashes? How long is the sample period?

Do you think sometime this summer you could cover lip gloss? I’ve heard Mac & BB are worth it but can’t get them in this cow (err pig) town. Do I need to ship them in? I normally use Lancome & Clinique due to easy access & I LOVE the rootbeer color in Clinique. I put it over a neutral-ish liner that I fill in on the whole lip. Is the Target stuff just as good? Is BB or Mac or “other” worth it? Only if you have time…. Keeping 4 kids occupied & non-bored may preclude you from taking requests… I have 1/2 as many & can just barely keep everyone from clobbering each other : /

Robert=glamorous=not so much… ;-) But, thanks for the kudos, Jill.

Re: Heather on June 22 @ 4:09 pm…MAC Lip Gloss is the best. With the heat index at 115 degrees here in the mid-west, MAC products stand the test of time. When I lived Edgemont, SD 2006-2008, I had all my MAC shipped (I couldn’t even get Cover Girl without driving 85 miles) well worth the shipping cost!
Jill…stand up job. I will never go to the make up counter without checking with you first.

Tami or Jill~
I have a friend going into Chicago tomorrow and I’m going to have her grab some MAC gloss for me. Do I want LipGlass: Dazzleglass? It was the most eyecatching to me and seems to have the most colors which seems it might be their most popular. I have a few shades picked out : ) I can’t WAIT to get it. I was going to come up with a reason to go up to Chi myself but my good friend is and she’ll hook me up!
Thanks, in advance, for your help!
Hot Heather (temp hot, you know?)

Heath, I would def. recommend their basic lipgloss which is called Tinted Lipglass. Do you deal in light or darks? I am of course a fan of the ‘fleshy’ light pinky lip and if you like those I feel “Prrr” is fab on lots of folks. Also pretty is “florabundance” or “Pink Lemonade”.

From their new ’shadebreak’ is one called “She’s a Star” which looks a tad more peachy-flesh than Prrr. Prrr is more pinky-flesh. Might be cute too.

For a LIPSTICK, IF you want to get on, I bet Jist would be sooo good on you w/ your coloring. It’s not too red, not too coral, not to mauve but a nice pop of color to lips without being over the top. :)

this is the best!!!I really got updated on these interesting products..Have you tried the pediegg yet??
